Sweet Saturday!

What a wonderful Saturday it has been! We started the day slowly and leisurely, something we never do. We are usually up and at 'em around 5:30 or 6 a.m. and have done a hundred things by 8. Today we were just getting out the door around 8:30, having done nothing productive but get ready, which is leisurely for us. We didn't even fix breakfast at home. We had a chicken minis platter from Chick Fil A. :) YUM! Next we headed up to Monte Sano State Park for a birthday party for one of Maggie's little friends, John William. We love love LOVE his parents, Leah and Jonathan. So we were looking forward to hanging out with them too. It was raining cats and dogs when we got there, but that didn't stop the party. John William was already muddy from head to toe and loving it, so our girls quickly followed suit. I really wish I had had my camera. Penelope got stripped down to a diaper and literally had mud all over her body- in her hair,  her eyebrows, in between her fingers and toes, and every nook and cranny in between. :) It was a blast! We drove around Monte Sano Mountain for awhile after the party. I would love to live there. I think of all the places in Huntsville, that would be my top pick of an area to live. The houses are all unique and have spacious yards. There are hike and bike trails everywhere, the state park, the planetarium- all places we love to go. I also went to The Little Green Store for the first time, and loved it. Can't wait to go back. :) They sold the lip balm I am hooked on. . . . I attached a picture. It rocks. Best lip balm ever and it tastes/smells so good.

Anyway, we had planned to go from there to the Botanical Gardens for Solar Day, but since it was raining and thundering, we figured that wasn't the best plan. We came back home for a few hours, got everyone in a warm bath and into bed for naps. Even Brian and I took naps. :)

In the afternoon I went to a Blessingway for my dear friend Jessica. Never heard of a Blessingway? Neither had I! It's kind of like a baby shower, only way cooler. :) It's more for the mother than the baby. We all gave her special charms and beads to go on a necklace she will wear during delivery to remind her of the love and support she has from those who love her. We surrounded her and prayed for her, which was a very special thing. Everyone else had given her pretty silver charms, but I guess I didn't fully understand, so I had gone to Mary's in Five Points (the neatest store ever- that is another post in itself! Just go there ASAP! you will love it!). I got several heart- and butterfly- and flower-shaped beads as symbols of love and hope and little girls. :) They are cute and colorful. I attached a picture of Jessica holding them. (also attached a picture of the LOVE ring I got there for $3!) I had a fabulous time, being surrounded by some awesome women, and honoring a woman I admire so much. I can't wait to meet sweet Baby Hall! I also made a card for Jessica that was really awesome at the time I was making it, but ended up being kind of funny by the time I gave it to her. You can be the judge of awesome or funny. See the picture of Jessica and me with her holding the card. :)

After the Blessingway we ate at Churrito's, which we used to love when it was Pepito's, but were sad to say that it has changed. Brian was very unhappy to find that the Chicken 73 that he has been getting for years, now has jalapenos in it. He was not expecting that. The salsa is also really REALLY hot, even for me. *sigh* We came home, Brian and Penelope mowed the yard :), and Maggie and I sat on the front porch blowing bubbles. It's been a great day!
