Scheduling

"She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness." -Proverbs 31:27

I'm not naturally a very organized person. I usually have to search ten places for a safety pin or scissors or something like that when I need it. I'm also not naturally a schedule person. In fact, if I think about it, I'm kind of a hippie. My natural inclination is to just want to follow my feelings and just let each day kind of surprise me with whatever it brings. :) But that doesn't work very well for a homemaker/homeschooling mother of 4 who also desperately wants to follow in the footsteps of the Proverbs 31 woman. Somehow I don't think she was a hippie. :) God is slowly making me into the woman He wants me to be. As I study the Bible, He gently points out the things I need to work on. Right now it's watching over the ways of my household through a schedule, so that I know we are making good use of our time and not eating the bread of idleness.  Allie and I have followed a pretty good school schedule, but I'm working on a schedule for the other three munchkins who aren't preoccupied and clamor so heartily for our attention during those hours. :) I got the idea from the book I read months ago called "Managers of Their Homes". There's not just a general schedule, there is something for each member of the family to be doing at all times. For example, it's not enough for me to put "Math" on the schedule. For that hour, Allie does math. I tutor/help her with Math. Maggie and Penelope have play-doh or puzzle time. Rosemary naps. I'm also making housekeeping schedules so it doesn't overwhelm me every day. Mondays are clothes laundry days; Tuesdays we clean the bathrooms; Wednesdays we Swiffer the floors and dust; Thursdays we wash everyone's sheets; Fridays we pick up the classroom and playroom.

I'm getting there. . . . I'm so thankful God and Brian are patient with me. HA! He is such a wonderful husband. I agonize sometimes over the fact that my brain just doesn't naturally work the way I want it to and my sinful nature is so lazy and hedonistic. He smiles and says that he loves me just the way I am.

Well, my schedule doesn't have time in it for blogging! Definitely need to change that! :) Until then. . . .
