Today

I think today is going to be a great day. Brian's office is here at the house for now, so for 6 months I've been having to "be decent" between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. since his employees are here. Not only are they here, they are in the office, which is across the hall from my personal bathroom and right next to my bedroom. So taking a shower or going to the bathroom, changing clothes, taking a nap, etc. anytime between those hours has pretty much been nonexistent. And I'm the type who leaves doors open when I use the potty, change clothes, or do whatever. I don't really like closing doors and being discreet. :) Today, however, Brian has an offsite and his men won't be here. Woo hoo!! I may get a shower in the middle of the day, with the bathroom door wide open. I told Brian, "I hate having to be decent all the time." He said he would carry that quote with him all day long and smile when he thought of it. :)

It's also going to be a good day because we're going to spend most of the school day in the Word. Allie has lots of AWANA work to do, we have a new hymn to memorize, and I am starting my next Scripture memory passage- 1 Peter 1:13-16. The passage starts, "Gird up the loins of your mind; be sober; vigilant." I love that. Wakes me up better than a cup of coffee. :)

  1. HA!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't shut doors. : ) Having to be "decent" at my house is just a pain!! Jason, who grew up in a very "decent" home does not understand me at all. : ) Although, I will say that having a son makes things slightly more difficult. I do find myself shutting more doors these days. : ( I tell Jason that I could never live with close neighbors. : )

  2. Neither of you ladies, Julie or Heather, knows what you are missing! Shutting the door means that you are actually alone!!! Now of course you still hear everything, and of course someone has to come and try to get in, but I love my time in the bathroom with the door closed, alone!!! Sometimes I even take a snack in their with me!!! :-) But I do totally understand the other part. I don't always get dressed first thing in the morning either, so that would cramp my style also! But try to enjoy the closed bathroom door. You'll be amazed at how great it is!!! :-)

  3. Haha! That sounds like something my dear hubby would say. I myself am grateful for girls, but I often close the door and sometimes lock it just for some peace and quiet. I would hate to have to be dressed for school everyday. I left that life behind when I started homeschooling and I will never look back.

  4. Wow, I've learned a lot about you ladies by reading your replies! Ha! I think I get what you're saying about the bathroom door and privacy, Jennifer. But it's the principle of the thing for me. If I want the doors open in my house, I should be able to leave them open, for heavens sake! You know? I guess I've got issues with sharing my "own private space". I'm praying Brian finds an office space soon!!!!!
