Let the holidays begin

So, I could not have asked for a better Halloween. . . well, if Brian had been here it would have been perfect. But it was as good as a Brian-less Halloween could be. Thanks so much to Mom and Dad for keeping Penelope safe and snug at home while Allie and Maggie and I enjoyed trick-or treating with friends and neighbors. It was Maggie's first time to really "get into" trick or treating, and it was so much fun to watch her get excited each time a new door would open. She was so polite, being sure to say "thank you" and "happy Halloween"to each neighbor. :) Allie's slumber party wasn't all that bad either. I did have to cut them off from Mountain Dews at 1:30 a.m. so that they could maybe possibly fall asleep, which they finally did at 3:30 a.m. So I am dragging a bit today. But the most exciting thing about the day after Halloween is that now in my mind it is officially "the holidays". From now until New Year's Day, the kids and I can do Turkey Day things and Pilgrim things and fun, festive, whimsical things. We can bake, we can make cards and gifts, we can drink hot chocolate, we can listen to Christmas music, we can snuggle under blankets. And my man will be home to help complete the celebration in just three weeks!! Then the holidays can truly begin.
