Baby Girl #4

Today was my 31st birthday. What a wonderful day it was!!! I always feel so indulgent during the month of October, partly because it's my birthday month, partly because fall is arriving and the new cooler weather and changing colors of the trees make me want to stop and enjoy each moment. But today was especially special, because we got to see our latest baby on ultrasound.

Dr. Kakani's exact words were "she's picture perfect." I couldn't agree more. She (yes, it's another she) had a perfect four-chambered heart that was beating at 154 bpm, which is exactly where it should be. Her brain looked good; her kidneys, stomach, and liver looked good; all her measurements were right on. I was 19 weeks 2 days today, and all her measurements were 19 weeks and 2 days. She truly was "picture perfect". I thanked God with each reassurance that her two legs, two arms, spinal cord, ears, nose, and mouth were all just as they should be. What an amazing Creator we have. And to think, He has already numbered her days!! It's too much for me to take in.

I can't escape the feeling that God knows exactly what He's doing in giving us four daughters. He's entrusting us with girls for good reason. He doesn't do anything by "accident". Recently He's shown me a prayer in Scripture that I want to pray over my girls. Psalm 144:12 says "That our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style." Pillars are strong. Steadfast. Immovable. They can withstand great pressure. And especially pillars that are sculptured in palace style are beautiful. They support and make beautiful the structure they are presenting. I want my girls to be strong and immovable in their beliefs. I want them to be strong supports to their husbands. I want them to bring beauty to the dark world. Not just that they be physically beautiful, but that they would shine as lovely examples of God's goodness. I thank God for this Scripture I can pray and that has given me some things to impress on my daughters.

I don't know what her name will be yet, but I already pray that she will be a pillar, sculptured in palace style. "Let the beauty of the Lord be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us." -Psalm 90:17
