My Favorite Songs

Here it is. . . my official list of favorite songs. Let me preface the list by saying that really and truly, my all-time favorite music in the world is praise and worship. I do not think there is a more fulfilling thing a Christian can do than to spend time praising God, and I love doing it through music. You can pretty much say that I love all hymns and all true "praise" songs out there. So that list would be endless. The only preference I have is for the songs that are more victorious and celebratory over the ones that are melancholy and "woe is me; I'm so humble". For instance, I would much rather listen to "Crown Him With Many Crowns" than "The Heart of Worship". I mean, no offense, but "It's all about you. . . " DUH. "Oh Victory in Jesus" says that without saying it.

Anyway, I have lots of other favorite songs that are secular. This is just a sampling as there is never enough time to go through all good music, but I've listed a few with some explanations:

1) "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"- one of my favorites. I want this sung at my funeral. My very insightful Allie said, after listening to it in the car recently, "Why is that lady singing about dying?" I thought that was very intuitive of her. I like to think that she's singing about heaven. My favorite version is by Ingrid Michaelson.

These are some that if I made a "Julie Soundtrack", would definitely be on it:

2) "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart
3) "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart
4) "Teach Your Children Well" by Crosby Stills and Nash
5) "Love the One You're With" by Crosby Stills and Nash
6) "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin- this is just a fun, fun song to sing to, dance to, etc.
7) "Son of a Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield
8) "The House that Jack Built" by Aretha Franklin
9) "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" by Ella Fitzgerald
10) "Down on the Corner" by CCR- again a fun, fun song!
11) "Doo Doo Doo, Dah Dah Dah" by The Police
12) "Message in a Bottle" by The Police
13) "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by The Police
14) "Only the Good Die Young" by Billy Joel

31) "What's the Frequency Kenneth?" by REM
32) "Be OK" by Ingrid Michaelson
33) "Breathing" by Ingrid Michaelson- another sad one but sometimes you just have to be sad, it's cathartic, you know? Sometimes a good sad song is. . . really good for you. :)
34) "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen- how fun is this song???
35) "Gypsy" by Fleetwood Mac
*which reminds me, "bohemian" and "gypsy" are some words I just LOVE for some reason. You know how there are just words you love to say and use for some unknown reason? Those are two of mine.*
